Page 109

Stayed up til past 11:30 last night & pushed on through past 100 & stopped at chapter break on page 109. I really am enjoying it but it's still pretty daunting to have 900+ pages left & SO DAMN HEAVY! I thought about beinging it to read on the bus today but it made my bag as heavy as when my laptop is in there so I decided against.

Maybe it's finally time to pick up a kindle...

  2. 900+ pages is just a number, a conceptual quantification - the REAL obstacle to completing the book is the self.

  3. That's wild that you are reading Infinite Jest, Jim. I recently got interested in reading Wallace's work after I read a commencement address he gave at Kenyon. Then I came across a letter he wrote to a creative writing class, where he referenced a piece on the Illinois State Fair. I've been reading A Supposedly Fun Thing that I'll Never Do Again, which includes the State Fair essay.

His father was a professor here at the Univ of Illinois, and he grew up in Urbana. It's interesting to read what he says about people from here.

What a tragic figure. There's a really good Rolling Stone piece about his life.

Haven't had the courage yet to read Infinite Jest, though I think it would be good for bicep work outs.
